Southern New Hampshire Doll Show and Sale Sept 13, 2009

The Southern New Hampshire Doll Show and Sale took place September 13, 2009 at the Holiday Inn, Nashua, N.H. presented by the UFDC Nellie Perkins Doll and Miniature Society.
WOW! What a large doll-loving buying public turned out for this show. It was busy all day long with an enthusiastic and excited group of doll collectors and club members. Most stayed all day and spent time going through all the dealer exhibits some of which are pictured here.
About 40 doll dealers packed into the show room and were set up with quite a mixture of dolls from early bisque and china heads to new bears and reborn dolls. And of course Barbie. I sold a very nice blond Color Magic.
The doll club did an exquisite amount of work to produce the show and all the effort from the club members paid off. The show was a winner.
People came to buy for their collections, to dress dolls, find a treasure and gain another doll for the ever present growing collection. One buyer told me that he has 3500 Barbie dolls in his collection which begun when he was a teenager.
You can never have enough dolls would seem the under lying theme of the day. The above picture displays two of my vinyl Betsy Mccall dolls I had for sale. Many new purchases found their way into collections at this show.

Seacoast Doll and Bear Show Portsmouth, N.H.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire USA was the place to be on June 7, 2009 if you love dolls. The Seacoast Doll and Bear Show took place at the Frank Jones Center on Route One with about 30 dealers exhibiting including myself American Beauty Dolls. I exhibited at this show bringing vintage and collectible dolls. I also brought some Barbie as well as Silkstone Barbie.

The day was bright and sunny, but inside the exhibit hall, a doll feast was set out for eager buyers. I brought some of my American Girl Dolls and an assortment of 1950's small Fashion Dolls.
One of the most interesting one of a kind pieces of miniature folk art was this hand made to scale period Library with unbelievable detailing.
Most of the dolls, teddy bears and accessories that were for sale were modern, so a savvy shopper could by dolls created by their favorite doll artist or contemporary company such as Tonner.
Newly made clothing for American Girl Dolls could be found in many booths. So cute! The possibilities are endless with American Girl whether the clothing is for the Historical Dolls or the Girls of Today!
Some vintage and antique dolls were offered for sale as well and consisted of about a third of the dolls exhibited.
Bears also played an important role in the show adding their touch of class and flare!
The show promoter Wendy Collins worked very hard to make this show happen. And the results materialized with a good crowd in attendance spending the day enjoying the dolls. Me too!

All About Antique Dolls at Coventry, Connecticut Doll Show

If you are a lover of antique bisque and china head dolls, the place to be was the Coventry Connecticut Doll Show May 2, 2009. Booth after booth displayed very interesting and beautifully dressed bisque and china head dolls. Above is a photo of my booth at the show.
I focus mostly on vintage and collectible dolls of the early 20thC to the present. My selection of Toni dolls gave a watchful eye over the other dolls displayed in my booth.
The Coventry High School was filled with about 35 dealers who set up their doll displays.
Some dealers came as far as Pennsylvania and New Jersey to exhibit.
Many lovely bisque dolls were displayed in interesting groupings and vignettes.
This exciting show happens once a year. The show gets a loyal attendance of buyers.
Many shoppers stay all day going through all the doll offerings, bins, and boxes.
Glancing through all the photos, see if you can find a doll that you would like to own!

The Doll Toy and Teddy Bear Show Agawam Massachusetts USA April 4+5, 2009

The Doll, Toy and Teddy Bear Show that had been running for 20+ years in West Springfield, Massachusetts USA changed to Agawam, Massachusetts last November 2008. Now in its second showing at this new smaller location, April 4 and 5, 2009 saw a decent crowd of dedicated and casual buyers searching out wonderful dolls.
For my part as a seller, I bring my vintage and collectible dolls including Barbie. Also my 1950's Fashion Dolls "The Glamor Gals" are always displayed in my booth proudly showing off their fashions. Quality dolls are my specialty and I like them in great condition.
The 66 Doll and Bear dealers who set up at this show come from all over the Northeast and are all well known. They bring a fine example of a vast array of dolls and bears to buy.
The show has a wide variety including new dolls such as Tonner, Reborns and other contemporary dolls.
But antique and vintage collectible dolls preside over this show.
Besides selling and doing business, we all have a great time at this two day show including the additional day to set up our booths.
I love this show and always look forward to finding a doll or accessory I have never seen before to add to my inventory.
Doll collectors and buyers have a great day shopping, staying all day to carefully pick through the display shelves and bins. This was a fun show.
I have included many pictures in this post to illustrate the variety of dolls at this show and the quality of merchandise.

And really, you can find almost anything at this show. This giraffe pair are wonderful.

UFDC San-D-Over Dollers Doll Club Show in New Hampshire

Nice bright sunshine with a cool feel to the air greeted the early morning doll dealers at the 13th Annual San-D-Over Dollers UFDC Doll Club Doll Show and Sale March 21, 2009 in Dover, New Hampshire. The show had about 28 dealers set up, predominantly selling new dolls, new doll clothing, and artist dolls which dominated the show.
I set up my assortment of vintage and collectible dolls.
Of an interesting note, the doll club always provides a nice display, this year featuring Small High Heel Dolls of the 1950's. Since this area of collecting is one of my favorites, I was enthralled by their doll display collection.
Included was Jill, Little Miss Revlon, Horsman Cindy, Sandra Sue, Cissette, Miss Nancy Ann, Suzette, Miss Ginger, Tiny Teen, Jan, and Miss Coty. Some had original outfits. Since small fashion dolls of the 1950's is one of my areas of interest. I like to have many in stock at all times, and for this show, I presented some for sale in my booth.
The show drew a modest buying crowd and many people walked away with new doll purchases.

The March Doll, Teddy and Toy Show, Dedham, Massachusetts

A Beautiful "almost" spring day greeted the many dealers during the early morning set up at the March 15, 2009 Doll, Teddy and Toy Show at the Holiday Inn, Dedham, Massachusetts. The showroom filled with bisque, antique, vintage dolls and doll accessories of all kinds as dealers began to unpack.
This show is known for the fine selection of antique cloth dolls either primitive and folky or manufactured. Several dealers at the show specialize in antique cloth dolls.
Personally, I prefer the American 19thC embroidered face, pencil drawn face or oil painted face dolls Each one is a one of a kind unique creation.
Interesting vignettes also were found at the show putting antique dolls to work posing at their favorite activity.
Many dealers had an endless assortment of bisque head dolls dressed in snowy white afternoon frocks.
I love the primitive rag dolls made of muslin and dressed in cotton calico. Rarely do cloth rag dolls have the original clothing and it is fun to find an antique cotton calico dress to fit them. Layering with white muslin petticoats and pantaloons gives the dolls a sense of what must have been on them originally.
Vintage 50's fashion dolls also play an important part of my inventory, and these gals display so well.

Now those are SMILES!!!!
My favorite at the show were two Madame Alexander Cissy dolls.
Many dealers including myself also had a wide variety of Barbie from Silkstone in my booth to all kinds of boxed Barbies.
And of course, the show included many very nice Teddy Bears in all sizes !!
